Overview

The demand for Energy Technicians, Engineers and Low Carbon Energy specialists is greater than ever in the UK - with new infrastructure projects (including new energy power builds) emerging across the nation at an ever-increasing rate. This programme gives learners the skills they need to advance and thrive in modern clean-energy industries such as wind power (onshore and offshore), solar PV, hydrogen and heat pumps. The course uses a range of learning strategies to provide students with an experience of higher education that reflect the requirements for innovation within the low carbon energy industry.

At a glance

  • All students will be interviewed to assess their suitability for the course.
  • Essential: 5 GCSEs (including English and maths at grade 4 or equivalent) or equivalent experience.
  • Expected: Equivalent of 2 ‘A2’ Levels at grade D (48 UCAS points) in a science and/or maths related subject OR successful completion of Lakes College’s Level 3 Bridging Certificate in Engineering, Foundation Diploma or Extended Diploma (or similar qualification) at Pass grade.
