Erosion is a natural process in all river systems. This one-day course will provide an introduction into: the types and drivers of river bed and bank erosion; the techniques for monitoring erosion, and approaches to manage and control erosion in different settings. The course is open to all with an interest in rivers and river restoration, and will not require significant prior knowledge of these topics.
We have developed this course to hold as a hybrid learning course, with material uploaded to an online learning platform for delegates to work through in their own time over a 4-week period. Following this, we will hold a 1.5 hour discussion session online for all attendees on the course to join and discuss the material.

The Safe Working Near Water course is designed for people working near water who will be issued with lifejackets but will not be expected to intentionally enter the water, eg EA, SEPA, NRW personnel, construction industry workers, road and bridge maintenance workers.

This course provides the knowledge and techniques for employees who need to work in or near water. It covers appropriate PPE and simple rescue techniques to allow safe rescue from water, both basic and moving, and gives simple rescue techniques that can be used to rescue co-workers.

Primarily intended for those working in and around floods, our First Responder course is very popular with industrial clients as it so widely known and accepted by key stakeholders. Defra Mod 2 is often stated as the minimum requirement for operatives working around the water in tender documents.
