If you need to buy or use sheep dip products, then under the Medicines (Exemptions for Merchants in Veterinary Drugs) Order 1998 you will need to hold this qualification. It covers preparing to dip sheep by demonstrating understanding and knowledge of legislative, welfare and environmental requirements, protective clothing, record keeping, control of external parasites, sheep diseases and dip disposal. An optional unit on practical dipping will put this knowledge in to practice.
When working with chemicals such as pesticides, veterinary medicines and sheep dip it is important to know that they may contain substances that are potentially harmful to human health. You will need effective control measures to reduce the risks The use of these products will be subject to COSHH Regulations.
