Overview

Open Awards are excited to be expanding the range of apprenticeship standards for which they offer end-point assessment and are actively recruiting Lead End-point Assessors and End-point Assessors. One of these new apprenticeship standards is Level 4 Forestry Works Manager (ST1427) and they are recruiting forestry subject experts to support with this. You will work remotely to provide a high-quality independent assessment experience for apprentices and their employers. This will involve undertaking the apprenticeship end tests and experienced worker tests. These tests will be carried out online and constitute questioning the candidate about a pre-submitted portfolio of evidence and a short presentation followed by a professional discussion.

  • Apprenticeship (England). The Forestry Works Manager apprenticeship in England is now live and being advertised by University of Cumbria and Plumpton College. This opens the funded work-based route to train towards and achieve this certification in England. Open Awards have been working to make sure that the end test is ready and available for apprentices when they complete their apprenticeship.
  • Experienced Worker Test (UK Wide). Alongside the apprenticeship end test Open Awards have also been developing an ‘Experienced Worker Test’. Open Awards have been working with the ICF, Forestry Commission and the University of Cumbria to develop supporting structures and information on the Silvestor learning platform. This will include a portfolio building tool, direction to exam readiness resources and support. We also anticipate modular CPD style learning will be available for experienced workers to access if they need it.
  • We need your help. Open Awards have started recruitment of assessors to undertake the apprenticeship end tests and experienced worker tests. The test will be carried out remotely and constitute questioning about a pre-submitted portfolio of evidence and a short presentation followed by a professional discussion. We will need a pool of assessors to undertake these test for Open Awards and recruitment is open now.
