Join Raise’s new Neuroaffirming Volunteer Programme, launching January 2026. This inclusive woodland volunteering initiative is designed for neurodivergent people – and anyone who values accessible, welcoming outdoor spaces. Volunteers will help create and care for community woodlands across Cumbria through hands-on environmental and creative activities. Our first sessions take place at Low Skelgill near Borrowdale, with further opportunities running throughout the year at other woodland sites.
What do volunteers do? Through our sessions, volunteers will take part in tree planting, woodland maintenance and biodiversity monitoring; learn new skills in forestry, ecology and creative approaches to nature; work alongside foresters, artists, scientists and community practitioners; and enjoy time outdoors, building confidence and connecting with others. No previous experience is needed – just curiosity, an interest in nature and a willingness to get involved.
