Do you need a Certificate of Competence / Licence to Practice for certain aspects of your work? Do you already have one of these but it's time for a refresher? Do you want to have confidence that you are operating machinery safely?

City & Guilds and Lantra have a suite of land and nature based qualifications to meet your needs. They are the two main awarding bodies for the industry and their training courses and assessments are available through colleges and private organisations.

We have put together a list of what is available in Cumbria. Some courses are scheduled and some courses are on demand and there can be flexibility around the venue, the training provider may have their own venue or they may come to you.

The City & Guilds NPTC portfolio focuses on short qualifications designed to deliver the specialist skills required for a Certificate of Competence (CoC) qualification. Some of these qualifications are required for Licence to Practice activities or for membership of a CPD register.

Westmorland County Show Assessment centre

The Cumbria Proficiency Tests Committee is a City and Guilds approved assessment Centre which provides opportunities to obtain nationally recognised qualifications through City & Guilds and NPTC, leading to wide ranging career opportunities within the Land Based and Environmental sectors. At the centre, we register candidates for assessments with City & Guilds both on behalf of trainers and training companies. We also work with assessors to carry out quality assurance observations to ensure everyone works within the specifications required by the certificating body. Our most popular qualifications include Pesticides, Veterinary Medicines, Land Based Machinery, Transportation of Livestock, Chainsaw and Forestry Machinery.
