Alison's Journey to Leading Outdoor Learning with the Ernest Cook
Trust

The Ernest Cook Trust is a UK charity which aims to share their love and understanding of the countryside to enable a deeper affinity with the natural world. They provide a wide range of outdoor learning opportunities for children and young people and collaborate with a wide range of partners to maximise the impact of these opportunities. They also provide funding to support outdoor learning and to inspire young people to connect with nature.

LANSS met up with Alison Cross who is the Outdoor Learning officer (now Lead) to talk about her amazing role and the pathway she took to attain it. Alison talks about her experiences along her career journey, including some challenges and successes as well as giving her tips to developing your career in the land + nature sector. A key aspect to Alison's career journey was her experiences with volunteering and the wide range of skills she developed through her volunteering, from practical conservation skills to personal confidence and engagement skills.
