LANSS was delighted to be asked to share their story with the Countryside Jobs Service audience.

Countryside Jobs Service is an ethical business working in harmony with environmental professionals to conserve the British countryside and natural world.

Their website provides a one-stop shop for everyone already working in or looking to work in the countryside, conservation, ecology and wildlife sectors. You'll find adverts for jobs and volunteer placements, there is a daily news service, a full training directory of courses and professional events and a large library of in-depth information covering the whole industry.

We enjoyed telling them the story of how we came into being following the closure of Newton Rigg in 2021 leaving Cumbria without an obvious hub to support the development of a highly skilled, localised land and nature workforce fit for the future.

We also told them

  • How we support people at every stage of their journey into the sector - from young people making subject choices, to those exploring education and training options, career changers seeking new opportunities, and professionals looking to upskill through CPD or mandatory training.
  • About our searchable online platform which brings together courses, training, volunteering, apprenticeships, work experience and job opportunities, alongside personalised telephone and email advice.
  • How we work with employers to address skills gaps or training needs, share current vacancies, and explore the availability of work placement opportunities.
