Whether you are an employer or an employee affected by transport challenges - this is your chance to have your say. Please share with your networks.
It is well known that transport barriers both limit recruitment pools and affect employee retention for businesses, and restrict the opportunities available to those seeking work, particularly for those people and businesses in rural areas such as Cumbria.
Wheels to Work (WTW) has been set up to develop a scheme which can support local people and businesses who are struggling to access work or recruit due to these transport barriers.
The Group is led by ACTion with Communities in Cumbria (ACT) and supported by representatives from Cumberland Council, Cumbria Youth Alliance, Cumbria Tourism, Land and Nature Skills Service (LANSS), and Inspira.

WTW recognises that success is built through engaging with the people who will be using and benefitting from the scheme and hence they are launching a survey for both employers and employees to complete.
Proposed schemes that you can feedback on include Bicycles/E-bikes, Supported Driving Licences, Car Sharing/Car Hire pools or Shared taxis/dynamic responsive transport – have your say on what would work for you or your business.
WTW is also looking for feedback on what kind of support would work best. They are proposing offering Consultancy, Pilot Schemes, Policy Influence, Funder Engagement or a Central Scheme / Grant Funding. Again, this is your chance to have your say on what would work for your business.

What impact do transport barriers have on your business and what solutions would work best for you as an employer?

Your responses will shape the development of the WTW model and provide the evidence base for a funding bid. Our goal is to launch a pilot scheme in partnership with interested local employers.
Thank you for your time and for helping us work toward a practical, sustainable solution to transport barriers in Cumbria.
