The LANSS team were privileged to attend the Morecambe Bay Curriculum Conference at Lancaster University earlier this month.
It was an inspiring day aimed at supporting schools in putting together their Climate Action Plans. We were first given an overview of the 5 pillars of a Climate Action Plan, as set out by the DFE, before heading off to deeper dive workshops on the same topics.
We also heard from the Eden Project’s Education officer Sam Kendall and it is exciting to think that in due course Eden Project Morecambe will be available to our local community as an education resource whilst also providing employment and apprenticeships in the green careers sector.
We came away from the conference believing that LANSS has a real role to play in terms of supporting schools in the Green Skills part of their Climate Action Plans. From the teachers we talked to, they and their pupils would really appreciate our input to understand the career opportunities that exist in the green economy and what training pathways are available in the local area. We had some great discussions along the lines of inspiring young people who are perhaps experiencing Eco-anxiety or Eco-fatigue that they can make a difference to the future of the planet through their career choices.
